We love exploring Georgetown, north of Austin! The town has a terrific county courthouse square, swimming and paddling in the San Gabriel River, caverns to explore and a terrific assortment of city parks! San Gabriel Park was awarded the title of a Lone Star Legacy Park in 2012, one of only 9 in the state. It is also the location of the town’s annual 4th of July celebration!

The Creative Playscape is a terrific playground in San Gabriel Park, with plenty of fun activities for kids of all ages! According to Free Fun in Austin, the current playground replaced an older, wooden one in 2014. Click HERE to read that article, and see pics of the older playground.
The playground is bordered by a fence to help keep little ones from escaping!

There is a 1.6 mile loop in the park, or you can connect to Georgetown Hike and Bike Trail, that runs along the North and South fork of the San Gabriel River.
The San Gabriel Paddling Trail runs 18 miles from Liberty Hill to Georgetown, and you can take out at the park.
Fields
Along with plenty of open space for a game of catch, there are fields for baseball soccer, football, and lacrosse.
The abundance of trees would make it a hard place to fly a kite.
