Port Aransas is dog friendly! Fun Things to do for You and Your Pup!

Don’t leave your best friend at home this Summer! There are over 6 miles of dog-friendly beach in Port Aransas, plus tons of fun parks, restaurants and much, much more! Pack a bone and head to the beach!

Play

Of course, one of the best things to do in Port Aransas is enjoy the beach! Buy a beach parking permit, and head over to the beach! Dogs are required to be on a leash, but it’s hard while they’re in the surf. One of my favorite items to take with us was our Ladoogo dog leash from Amazon, because the foam handle floats, making it easy to find if dropped!

Mustang Island State Park offers day use and overnight camping, both in traditional camping sites off the beach and beach camping. Dogs are allowed everywhere except in park buildings, and must be on a leash 6′ or shorter, even in the water. State parks are infamous for writing tickets for dogs off leash, so don’t risk it.

If you’re wanting to take your dog off leash, head over to St. Joe Island! This privately owned island has no roads, so the only way there is by boat, and visitors can stay during the day on the beach or spend the night!

Take your best friend out on the water with a kayak or paddleboard! Port A H2O offers kayak and paddleboard rentals and allows dogs!

Eat

On our most recent visit to Port Aransas, we enjoyed dinner at Lelo’s Island Bar, which has a fun backyard patio with games and dog bowls for water! I loved the Jack and Coke burger, with sauteed onions.

Tortuga’s Saltwater Grill is also a favorite, with a dog-friendly patio. The steak and hash with a pineapple mimosa is a great way to start your day!

Stay

Plantation Suites and Conference Center is an economic and pet friendly place to stay on the island!

One of our favorite stays in Port A was at the 5 Dancing Dunes!

We love Seashell Village Resort, which is super accommodating for dogs!
