La King’s Confectionery, Galveston

La King's Confectionery on the Strand in Galveston

If you’re looking for a sweet step back in time, La King’s Confectionery in Galveston is the place to visit!  In operation since the 1970’s by the King Family, they offer so many unique and wonderful candies, chocolates and other treats!  La King’s has been a staple to a visit to Galveston for me since I was a kid growing up, and it couldn’t have a better location, in one of the Historic Buildings on the Strand!  Surrounded by great shops, restaurants, museums and just across the street from Saengerfest Park, with games and the famous Welcome to Galveston mural, you can make an entire day of it, or just stop off for a treat on your way home from the beach!

My favorite thing at La King’s is their Purity Ice Cream!  Hand-made, the ice cream in store, Purity is the oldest ice cream company in Texas, since 1889!   This is the place to introduce your kids to a banana split served in a real glass banana boat, or a chocolate malt!  The soda fountain also offers sodas made with unique syrups for extra flavor!

During the summer and on weekends, you can watch as they pull their famous Salt Water Taffy!  It’s kind of a big deal and something not to be missed when you are in Galveston!
