Why You Need to Visit Galveston’s Most Family Friendly Beach

Galveston Island has many fun beaches on which you can spend the day, but this is by far the most family-friendly beach on the island!

A large pavilion offers restrooms and showers for after swimming in the Gulf, as well as a gift shop and small snack bar.  You can bring your own ice chest and drinks, but no alcohol or glass.  That’s right, Stewart Beach is a NO ALCOHOL BEACH, and one of the reasons it’s so family friendly!   All the other beaches do allow alcohol, but the closest is East Beach.  Stewart Beach also allows you to bring your own grill.  We use a small habachi type to grill with, but I’ve seen some people wheel out some monsters.  Just remember to bury any coals, so no one steps on them!

Stewart Beach also has lifeguards!  This doesn’t mean you don’t need to watch your children, because you do, but it is nice to have them there.

While leashed dogs are allowed on the beach, cars are not, another reason I love Stewart Beach when traveling with kids!  We always bring a wagon and pull our stuff to where we set up on the beach.

My son loves the playground, especially since it’s shaded!

A treat is getting a cold ice cream from the concessions stand after a hot day on the beach!

Another great reason it’s Family Friendly is that they don’t allow fishing or kayaks/surf boards except on one section of the beach, away from most of the beach goers!

Don’t forget to bring your sand toys!

Know Before You Go

Admission is $12 – $15/ car for a one-time entry, which means if you leave, you need to pay to come back.  Go ahead and get the $50 Galveston Beach Annual Parking Permit, that allows you unlimited visits!  It’s good for a year!
