Creekside Park in Belton is a fun park on Nolan Creek, perfect for a morning or afternoon of fun for the kids on a sunny summer day! This FREE park is great for cooling off, and tubing or kayaking down the little falls. Located just off the Historic Downtown Courthouse Square, it’s a fun day trip!
The park opened in 2016.
We spent Labor Day in Belton, and were eating at The Gin at Nolan Creek in Downtown. There patio faces the creek, and after we ordered the kids and I ran down to get a sneak peak! There were lots of kids playing in the water! Click HERE to read more about the restaurant.
After lunch, we headed down to play, too!
My kiddo had a blast wading up and down the little waterfalls.
Afterwards, we did a little fossil hunting in the shallower areas below the falls. This area of Central Texas is covered in fossils, and we found a few nice ones to take home!
The Nolan Creek walking and bike trail runs along the creek, too. You can walk the trail down to Harris Community Park, which has a free splash pad, open Memorial Day – Labor Day, 6 days a week, closed on Mondays.
Know Before You Go
We didn’t have any, but water shoes are always recommended.
We had our leashed dogs, and the park is dog-friendly!
Bring tubes to let the kids tube down the little falls!
The water is tested, and considered suitable for secondary contact, meaning kayaking, tubing, etc but swimming is not suggested. With no open wounds, I allowed my son to play, and asked that he not put his head or face in the water.
