Children’s Museums combine the best of learning with fun, hands of activities that encourage visitors to use their imaginations, and the Discovery Science Place in Tyler has so many fun exhibits to keep kids playing, and learning, for hours!
Know Before You Go
Parking is FREE and available right next to the museum.
The Discovery Science Place reciprocates 100 % with other museums in the ASTC Travel Passport Program! Click HERE for more information.
They don’t sell food or drinks in the museum, but there are tables out front for a picnic lunch, or just a short walk to the Smith Courthouse Square.
The largest feature at the Discovery Science Place is the large manmade cave that everyone can explore! There are numerous activities inside, like the EARTHQUAKE simulator, a dinosaur digging pit, and more!
The 2-story ship lets kids pretend to be Captain Hook, sailing the high seas! There is also a pulley that lets them load and unload cargo off the boat!
Parents don’t need to just sit around on their phones, either! I loved all the games of strategy, although my 9-year old was a little faster than me at most!
Newstation
Even my older kids got into the fun in the newstation!
Bouldering Wall
With energy to burn, my son loved the bouldering wall! Be sure to wear closed-toed shoes!
Southside Bank
Of course, kids loved pretending to work at the bank, with lots of play money to hand out to bank customers, but beware the frequent bank robberies (there were at least 20 while I was making a deposit)!
One World Bistro
While the Discovery Science Place doesn’t have a real bistro (or sell any food, for that matter), you’ll get stuffed on imagination at the One World Bistro!
Trinity Mother Francis
Future doctors and nurses will love the nursery!
Chutes and tubes will fascinate your budding engineers….
and your goofballs!
Imagination Playground
We LOVE the big blue interlocking blocks of Imagination Playground, and were so excited to see a big area dedicated to just them! To read more about these amazing blocks, click HERE!
Gift Shop
Like any good Children’s Museum, there are plenty of reminders of your visit in the gift shop!
