Jellystone Park at Whispering Pines, Tyler

We visited our first Jellystone Park in Tyler, set among tall pine trees, and I can promise you it won’t be our last!  The kids had so much fun, and there was so much to do, that they NEVER wanted to leave!

Know Before You Go

Call ahead to make arrangements if you’ll be arriving after 8pm.

Bring your bikes! The road around the lake is a big circle, and perfect for family bike rides, or early morning walks!

Cabins

What can I say, these cabins are amazing!

RV/Tent Camping

We were tent camping, and I chose one of the sites with water and electricity.  I loved the location, my only surprise was that the tent pad was part of the parking lot.  It worked out absolutely fine, but I wish I had picked one of the primitive sites, which are all around the lake!

I’m always looking for great camping ideas, and the campers next to us had the “coolest” campsite ever!  They had thousands of little twinkling green lights in the trees above their camp, thanks to a Star Shower Laser Lights they purchased at Home Depot!  I was there the next day to purchase mine!

Swimming Pool

Isn’t this a great pool!  I took this in the early morning, the ONLY time the pool wasn’t full of happy, wet children! No lifeguards on duty.

Jumping Pillow

The kids loved the big jumping pillow!  Who wouldn’t!  Kids can jump all they want, all day!

Golf Carts

My daughter REALLY wanted to rent a golf cart, but you must be a licensed driver to drive it, and she’s only 14.  You can bring your own, electric-powered golf cart, too!

Adult Pool

The Adult Pool is for 18 and over, and there is a nice hot tub behind where I was standing to get this picture, filled with happy people!

Gem Mining

Our kids really enjoyed mining in the sluice for gems!  The bags of soil with the gems inside can be purchased in the Camp Store!

Tractor Rides

The tractor rides go around the campground!  Check your schedule when you arrive to plan out all the activities, because some, like the tractor rides and gem mining, are only offered during a certain time!

Movies

Once the sun went down and the stars came out, we all gathered at the outdoor theater to watch a movie!  My son was positive it was going to be Yogi, which would have made sense, but it turned out to be Home.

Pickleball Courts

Similar to tennis, but with a paddle and not-so-bouncy ball, pickleball was lots of fun!  They have 2 courts, along with a basketball 1/2 court!  All equipment was free, we just had to check it out and return it!

More Games

They also had a horseshoe court, washer, shuffleboard, big playground, sand volleyball court and a miniature golf course under construction!

Catch and Release Fishing

Bring your poles to catch one of the whoppers that live in the lake!  Fishing is catch and release only.

Camp Store

The store has everything you need, except sugar-free gum!  Really, they have everything else!
