Santa’s Wonderland, College Station

It’s my youngest son’s birthday, and to celebrate we loaded up in the car and drove down to College Station to visit Santa’s Wonderland! It is, in my opinion, one of the absolute best Christmas light displays and events in the state! It’s absolutely huge, which is why we were so excited to spend about 5 hours in the car after school on a Tuesday! We arrived in College Station right at 6pm, got great parking and since it was a Tuesday, the park was so easy to manuever around and do as much as we wanted without standing in crazy lines!

Know Before You Go

My advice is to arrive before 6, when they open, and be in line and ready to pass through the metal detectors. No guns allowed. My husband, for once, didn’t have to run back to the car to leave his pocketknife.

Purchase tickets online. It’s cheaper during the week. Go ahead and purchase parking online, too.

They have yummy food, so don’t worry about eating before you get there. I was able to bring in water and I had a couple of snacks in my bag. No outside alcohol allowed.

The highlight of Santa’s Wonderland is the tractor-pulled hayrides that drive you through the light display, which is wonderful! If you arrive right at 6pm, you’ll barely have a wait if you head straight there! They have a fastpass for an additional ticket, but we walked right on the hayrides in the regular line. If you bring a wagon or a stroller, they have parking right outside the lines for the hayrides.

In Santa Town, there are a variety of food options, including roasting your own hot dogs and smores! This time we chose the Cajun Restaurant, and ordered a variety of things, all of which was really good!

There’s also a neat, walk-thru light display. This is the candy-cane forest!

There are lots of photo ops available, too! You can purchase their photo or take your own, but they won’t take the picture for you with your phone.

Any chance I get to make a snowball and hurl it at my husband and kids is something I’m not going to miss!

We enjoyed just sitting for a few minutes and enjoying the band, and watching the kids dance!

Some of the activities that charge an additional amount are the ice skating, pony and train rides, petting zoo and bounce houses. But honestly, there’s so much that is included with your ticket that we’ve never really spent very much on the extras!
