Lake Texoma
Play Located in both Texas and Oklahoma, there is much to do on this large lake on the Red River! Lake Texoma State Park in Oklahoma offers hiking, a swim beach, a marina with a guide service. Eisenhower State Park also offers similar activities, as well as an ATV trail.C
Fastrac Cruises offers public lake history cruises, sunset cruises and even private cruises on the lake, as well as water taxi services.
Eat Pelican’s Landing is a waterfront restaurant on Lake Texoma. If the name sounds coastal, know that Lake Texoma is a stop on the migratory trail of the white pelicans and often be seen on the lake during the Fall.
Stay Tangleridge Resort and Golf Club offers rooms on the lake, and Eisenhower State Park and Lake Texoma State Park both having camping.
Play A busy lake located North of Houston, it’s the place to play! Rent a boat with Lakeview Marina, or bring your own! Lake Conroe Park has a swim beach, grills, volleyball courts and plenty of area to play!
Eat The only lake with more waterfront restaurants is Lake Travis! We love Papas on the Lake for drinks, with a sand volleyball court, a splash waterfall for the kids and a pool for 21 and up and Fajita Jacks!
Stay Just North of Houston, Lake Conroe boast over 200 VRBO listings, as well as several different resorts on the lake, such as the new Margaritaville!

Lake Whitney
Play Our go-to lake this Summer, Lake Whitney State Park has a swim beach and hiking trails. There is a golf course at White Bluff or visit the Bosque Waterpark.
Eat The Texas Great Country Cafe in Whitney has a great chicken fried steak, which they will pan fry on request!
Stay Lake Whitney State Park has campsites and screened shelters. There are several Army Corp of Engineer Parks, we prefer McCown Valley Park. Check out the VRBOs, over 100, around the lake.
Play A great getaway for water activities on the lake, and just below the dam the Guadalupe River’s Horseshoe Loop, one of the river’s most popular tubing destinations. Check out Tube Haus for rentals. Take a tour of the Canyon Lake Gorge. Canyon Lake Adventures offers boat rentals, fly boards, paddleboarding and even parasailing!
Eat After a full day on the lake, nothing is better than a burger from Canyon City Grill!
Stay If you’re dreaming of a lake house, VRBO sites over 850 rentals in the area. Holiday Inn Hill Country Resort sits on the shoreline with mini golf and 5 swimming pools. Jellystone Hill Country is a fun RV resort with cabins and tent camping, a dinosaur themed waterpark and tons of fun activities minutes from the lake! There are several parks with waterfront camping on the lake, including Potters Creek Park.
Play The FREE Granbury City Beach Park has a beach of imported sand from South Padre Island and a great swim area. Shop around the Historic Courthouse Square or watch a movie at the Brazos Drive In Theater!
Eat On the Granbury Square we love Ketzler’s Schnitzel Haus and Biergarten. or head over to Stumpy’s Lakeside Grill for a meal with a view.
Stay The Hilton Garden Inn sits right on the lake, adjacent to the Granbury City Beach Park. VRBO list over 75 properties in the area. FREE camping is available at De Cordova Bend Park.
Play If you’re looking to get away, Possum Kingdom is the place for you! The Possum Kingdom State Park offers hiking and mountain biking trails, and while the Possum Kingdom Sandy Beach is a popular destination, so are the cliffs of Hell’s Gate, the site of the Red Bull Cliff Diving Championship. WaterRush rents boats, kayaks, paddleboards and more!
Eat Bonnitaville serves up a solid cheeseburger with a view of the lake.
Stay Lush Resort and The Cliffs offers lakeside rooms. Bonnita Shores has cabin rentals. VRBO list over 72 properties in the area. The Possum Kingdom State Park as well as many Brazos River Authority Parks offers camping.
Lake Livingston
Play Another place where most of your entertainment is going to come from the water and the people you surround yourself with! Watersports and fishing are going to be some of the best activities. Visit the nearby Alabama-Coushatta Indian Reservation, and the Lake Livingston State Park offers horseback riding, kayaks, paddleboards, and hiking.
Eat The Farmhouse on the Lake in Onalaska
Stay VRBO has over 100 houses and cabins listed. Lake Livingston State Park has camping sites and screened shelters. Wolf Creek Park in Coldspring is a great park with camping.

Lake Travis

Just For Fun Watercraft rentals rents party barges, boats, kayaks and paddleboards! Take a chartered cruise on the lake with Sail Austin Charters.
Eat Hula Hut is a fun restaurant on the lake, and you can’t beat the views of The Oasis on Lake Travis!
Stay There are over 1000 vrbo listings around the lake! Lakeway Resort and Spa is right on the lake, and there is primitive camping at Pace Bend Park.
Lake LBJ
Play This is a fun lake is located just past where the Colorado River and the Llano River merge together, and is one of the Highland Lakes, which includes Lake Buchanan, Lake Marble Falls, Inks Lake, Lake Travis and Lake Austin. Watersports such as tubing and skiing are prominent in the lake, or just tie up on Sunset Beach Sandbar.
Eat While the Bluebonnet Cafe is technically in Marble falls, you won’t fault me for recommending this home cooking restaurant.
Stay Horseshoe Bay Resort has great pools, activities, and a marina with rentals. There are also over 300 listings on VRBO, from condos to lake houses.
