The first thing you think at Dallas Heritage Village is that you can’t possibly be THAT close to Downtown Dallas, but this 20 acre Living History site, with historical homes and buildings from the Dallas-area that were moved here for a world class museum experience, sits in the shade of the Dallas skyline! A visit to the DHV offers a glimpse into the life of Dallasites 100 years ago, and gives hands-on learning opportunities! Costumed interpreters bring the history of Dallas to life!

4. Your kids will love the Pioneer Schoolhouse! The little chalkboards are a long way from the devices used by children today!

5. Visit the donkeys Nip, Willie and Waylon! They are American Mammoth Jackstock donkeys, the largest breed of donkeys, and used to pull the carriages at the 4th of July parade!

6. The large grass spaces in the park are the perfect place to have a picnic! We like to grab something from nearby Dallas Farmers Market!

7. Christmas Candlelight Event takes place each December. Visit the DHV to step back in time, sing with strolling carolers, make crafts, enjoy live music, holiday candlelights and sit with St. Nick! There are festive food trucks and vendors, too!

8. The Dallas Heritage Village is dog friendly, except for the buildings!

9. Each Spring the field at DHV is filled with beautiful Texas Bluebonnets! Don’t miss the Wildflower Week in the Fall, when you can join in on scattering the wildflower seeds!
