10 Fall Family Friendly Things To Do in Austin

Fall is an amazing time in Austin, filled with pumpkin patches, Fall Festivals and great ways to get outside! While Covid-19 has cancelled many of our favorite yearly traditions, there are still so many things to do in September, October and November! Check out these 10 great things to do, one for almost every weekend of the season!

Amy’s Ice Cream, 2901 S. Lamar It wouldn’t be Fall without some Pumpkin Spice, and Amy’s Ice Cream’s Pumpkin is the BEST! “Pumpkin ice cream made from vine-ripened pumpkins spiced with a special Amy’s fall spice blend. Crowe’s Nest Farm, 10300 Taylor Ln., Manor Just outside of Austin, Crowe’s Nest Farm is Austin’s family friendly favorite farm! Fall Family Fun Days are open every Saturday and Sunday in October. The farm is open 5 days a week from September 15- December 12th, Tuesday – Saturday for milking demonstrations and tours.

Take a Ghost Tour Austin Ghost Tours and Haunted ATX both offer Ghost Tours in Downtown Austin.

Hike Mount Bonnell, 3800 Mount Bonnell Rd., Austin Climb the steps or hike up the trail for a beautiful view of the Colorado River below. When General George Custer was stationed in Austin, he would bring his wife to this spot for picnics. A very popular location, parking can be tricky during peak times.

House of Torment, 2632 Ridgepoint Dr., Austin Forget the long lines of the past at Austin’s premier haunted house, House of Torment! Reservation are required, there will be limited capacity so arrive early and all actors will wear costume-concealing mask and will not touch you!

Ladybird Lake Family Bike Ride, 1820 S. Lakeshore Blvd., Austin Cruise with your family around Ladybird Lake on the 10 mile Hike and Bike trail, that takes you past Auditorium Shores, Stevie Ray Vaughan Statue and more! Bring your own bikes or rent from Barton Springs Bike Rental.

McKinney Fall State Park offers great Fall Camping, right in Austin! Build a fire, make some smores, and tell some ghost stories at this beautiful park! Here’s a tip, make your reservations now as the park does fill up quickly in the Fall!

Pioneer Farms, 10621 Pioneer Farms Dr., Austin The 2021 home of Pumpkin Nights, come out for some fun on the farm this Fall!

Turkey Creek Trail, 2000 City Park Rd., Austin Enjoy the Fall temperatures on a great 2.8 mile hike along scenic Turkey Creek. Don’t leave your pup at home, as this is a dog-friendly trail and well behaved dogs are allowed off leash. Bring a towel as your pup might get wet in the creek.

Boo at the Austin Zoo, 10808 Rawhide Trail, Austin Bring your cutest costumed cuties to this fun evening event at the Austin Zoo! Reservations are required. Select days in October.

Walk the Grotto at Westcave Preserve, 24814 Hamilton Pool Rd., Round Mountain Take a guided hike through a limestone crevice that opens up to this beautiful grotto and 40′ waterfall! Reservations are required.
