Fields of Bluebonnets at Muleshoe Bend Recreational Area in Spicewood, Texas

Muleshoe Bend is a camping and recreational area on the Colorado River in Spicewood, that is known for it’s incredible fields of bluebonnets each Spring. Operated by the Lower Colorado River Authority, it’s a beautiful place to spend a sunny Spring day enjoying the flowers and wide, open spaces! Bring a picnic lunch, a football or hang a hammock in a tree!

Muleshoe Bend also offers over 9 miles of hiking and mountain biking trails, and a boat ramp. Kayak and SUP rentals are available on weekends. Water usage is dependent on the water levels, and the boat ramp will close when the lake is too low. Check with the park for current levels.

Admissions are charged at the gate. Please visit their website for current prices.

The park offers 34 campsites and does accept reservations. Reservations are not required for day use.

Bluebonnets are the Texas State Flower, and usually are present in the park from March through April, peaking in early April, depending on the weather!
