Your Friday Nights just got a whole lot more intense! JM2 Farms, which is located in the rural area of Venus, about 32 miles from Downtown Dallas, has made a fun corn maze that is open Saturdays from September 18th – October 31st, and Friday Nights for Lost in the Dark! Bring your own flashlight for some scary fun on their 1-hr corn maze, longer if you’re slow like me! There’s no telling what might be waiting for you in the corn!

On Saturdays, the corn maze opens at 10am for farm fun! They have food vendors and a horse drawn carriage from Honey’s Acres Carriages, also!
Lost in the Dark is every Friday Night through the 30th, from 7:30 – 10:00pm. Get there early enough to have plenty of time to find your way out! On the 30th, with the assistance of the large Harvest Moon, you may not even need a flashlight, but bring one anyway!
Close-toed shoes are required because, duh, it’s a corn maze on a farm. Bug spray is probably a good idea, too! Who knows what else flies around in that corn maze!
And yes, Covid…. so advance tickets are required. Visit their website by clicking HERE to reserve your tickets!

During a conversation with Farm Manager Kristi Bennett, she told me a little bit more about the JM2 Farms, “We are a small family farm. My grandparents bought the property in the early 80’s, got a few head of cattle, and settled into early retirement. My dad, John, joined in 2009, and made it into a business. We produce private label beef, beef cattle, replacement heifers, artisan wood products, square and round hay, and provide multiple ag services. We also supply a local restaurant in Waxahachie with beef. The base company for the Agriculture products is JM2 Ag and Cattle, LLC. We hope to be dividing the artisan wood products into its own DBA soon.”
This is the first year for the corn maze, which is hopefully the first of many things to come from JM2 Farms. Kristi explains their intentions, “My mom, Sally, joined us this summer after retiring from teaching this last year. She has started an Agritourism DBA branch of the company called JM2 Farms. Our first attempt at agritourism is this year’s corn maze. The goal of the corn maze is to give people a family friendly opportunity to be outside and active, learn about agriculture and where our food comes from, and learn how we try to be good stewards of God’s creations.”.
Our dream is to improve the land, increase our herd stock, have goats and chickens, and have lots of opportunities for agritourism and education. Sally wants to start a school day camp called Camp Golly to be able to host school groups and teach the kids about agriculture and the many ways farmers try to feed the world. We also hope to have a small store built in the near future to sell our beef, eggs, milk/cheese, custom seasonings/sauces, and garden vegetables.”.
We’re certainly going to keep our eyes on JM2 Farms, and look forward to seeing you in the corn fields!
