Rent A Boat for a Fun Day out on Joe Pool Lake, Grand Prairie

Lake Days are the Best Days!  Nothing says Fun in the Sun like a day out on the boat, but you don’t need to own a boat, not when Lynn Creek Marina on Joe Pool Lake offers fun rentals!  Take the family or a boat load of your best friends for a fun day, with plenty of great boats to choose from, too!

We took out a 24′ Harris Pontoon cruiser, with a maximum capacity of 13 people, for a great day on Joe Pool Lake!

It was so relaxing to skip the long line of people waiting to put in their boat, and just be able to walk right up to the boat that was waiting on us!  The gas tank was already filled and all we had to do was get out and enjoy the day!  Coming off the water was even better, as we just drove right past all the boats lined up, waiting their turn to take their boat out!

The Oasis on Joe Pool Lake

The Oasis at Joe Pool Lake is one of the very, very few waterfront dining options in Dallas/Fort Worth, and it’s such a great time to enjoy something to eat and drink while watching the boats come and go!  They almost always have live music on the weekends, as well!  Plan to grab something to eat before or after your day on the lake!

Joe Pool Lake, which sits in both Grand Prairie and Cedar Hill, offers fun fishing and skiing/boating recreation, and of course there’s a number of great coves you just anchor off and spend the day playing in the water!  There’s always a party happening at Party Cove each weekend!

Make a great weekend of it and book a campsite at Cedar Hill State Park, which is on the lake!  You’ll love being able to head over to the park on the boat!  Just a heads up that boats are not allowed to be beached at your campsite, even for a few minutes to pick up or drop off.  You can tie off to the dock by the boat launch.  Rentals are required to stay between the bridges on the lake, which gives you a ton of space to play, however Loyd Park, which is under the bridge, is off limits.

If you’ve never operated a boat before, the crew at Lynn Creek Marina will help you get started, and they have a few options for first-timers, too!  Did you know that you can take a sunset cruise around the lake, with a captain to drive and you can just sit back and enjoy the ride?  They even offer cruises during the holidays to see the Prairie Lights at Lynn Creek Park!

For a really great special occasion, they also have the massive Big Kahuna that you can rent for a party with up to 96 of your closest friends!  Teresa, the captain, takes the boat out, so all you do is sit back and have fun!  They can even cook and serve food and drinks onboard!  How fun is that?!  And what kids won’t love those amazing slides!

If you’re looking for something a little slower, they have a great selection of kayaks, canoes and paddleboards!  This is a great option if you’re having a picnic at Lynn Creek Park, which sits right next to the marina, too!

A huge Thank You and shout out to Teresa and everyone at Lynn Creek Marina who set us up for a terrific day out on the lake!  While the day out was complimentary, I was not paid for this post and as always, all opinions are my own!

Know Before You Go

Pack an ice chest with drinks, and healthy snacks!  Fruit is always a great option to keep everyone hydrated and feeling good on the boat!  Nothing ruins a day on the lake like getting dehydrated!

Remember, whoever drives the boat can not drink!  Safety is most important!

A few other things to remember are sunscreen, sunglasses, towels and water toys for the kids!  They offer life jackets or feel free to bring your own!  Grab a water-proof phone case for your phone, too!  Don’t worry if you forget anything, the marina store is well stocked!
