This amazing resort in North Texas has everything you need for a terrific weekend with the family! We had so much fun, and in July everything we did was centered around the resorts 3 pools, but they have activities and entertainment all year long!
The Resort sits on the shores of Lake Grapevine, just minutes from DFW airport, and is the perfect spot to enjoy your Dallas/Fort Worth vacation!
The hotel itself sits on over 4 acres, and just like Texas, it’s huge!
Skylights make you feel like you are outside, but the Inside Gardens offers a huge train garden where loco-lovin’ kids will enjoy watching the different train cards and the attention to detail of the sets!
Balconies look down onto the fun!
The Gaylord goes all out on entertainment, too! Each December it is home to Ice! a magical wonderland of ice sculptures, tubing, Santa and more! During the Summer, a different theme takes over each year, with activities all over the resort!
For 2019, the theme is Peter Pan! There was a pirate ship, a Neverland Escape Room, a scavenger hunt, Tinker Bell’s Dance Party and so much more!
After the dance party, we headed outside to the roof of the parking garage to watch the Grapevine Friday Night Fireworks Show! The 15 minute fireworks show, which the city puts on every Friday night during the Summer, is on the other side of the lake, so there are better location to watch, but we really enjoyed it! Oak Grove Park or Katie’s Woods are great places to watch, if you don’t mind a short drive.
The Indoor Riverwalk (I told you this place is amazing) is a replica of the Alamo!
With dining options that make you feel like you are in San Antonio!
We had a standard room, and I fought off my son by letting him go through the welcome basket while I took this picture!
But we were heading to the seasonal waterpark on the property, Paradise Springs! A convenient shuttle takes you to the waterpark, which is still on property. It’s really a BIG resort! The waterpark has a fun area for younger children, slides, a restaurant, and a lazy river, with tons of seating all around! I loved that they offer FREE lockers, too! Take my advice and remember your locker number…..
The Lazy River was so much fun! The cool water felt great on a hot July day!
When the waterpark closed, we headed over to the hotel to play at the swimming pool, which was just as much fun!
The resort also has a spa, but that’s for another, kid-less trip for me!
We also spent a little time in the inside, heated pool. I’m sure it’s busier during the winter, but we had the pool all to ourselves on a Saturday in July!
