Altstadt Brewery, Fredericksburg

We love good German food, and my husband loves German beer, all of which make Altstadt Brewery a fun destination when in the Texas Hill Country!

Doesn’t it just look like a huge old German castle?  It’s really very spectacular!

There’s plenty of outside dining in the Biergarten as well as inside!  At night the lights are on for a really fun and festive atmosphere!  It was a little chilly on the day we visited, so most of those dining were inside!

Even on cold days, there are way to keep warm while sitting out with friends!

Along with brewery tours, there are two restaurants at Altstadts, one is a more formal dining area and the other is more of a hall, which is where we always go!  We loved listening to the banjo player, and my husband, always a jokester, had him over playing for us several songs, even the Beverly Hillbillies Theme Song!  Hey, we tip well.

We had the Sausage Plate with fondue, which was very good, as an appetizer.  For dinner we had the chicken schnitzel and my youngest had the chopped steak.  My husband and I split the Grilled Rib Eye, which was just amazing!

We actually made 2 trips to Alstadts during our visit that week, since we missed the tour the first time.  Our tour guide was very informative and while I don’t like beer, I love hearing the history and science that goes with their brewing!  The tours are FREE!
