Nothing says summer like a weekend at the lake! We made our escape out to La Torretta Lake Resort and Spa, located on Lake Conroe! This terrific resort offers so much, from golf and tennis, to a fun pool, lazy river and slides, non-stop activities for the kids, water activities on the lake, and great dining and spa packages!
While it’s just an hour North of Houston, there’s so much to do at the resort that you may never leave!
We didn’t check in until after dark on Friday Night, but the hotel was still busy with guest coming and going from the restaurant and bars. One of the things I loved was that everything was located away from the Hotel Towers, so noise wasn’t a problem.
In fact, it was probably the quietest hotel experience I’ve ever had. Even on the ground floor, we didn’t hear our neighbors or anyone outside!
My kids loved the big 2 room suite, and so did I! We don’t watch a lot of television, but it’s was so nice to have 2 for a change!
I really enjoyed the bedroom, and HUGE bathroom with a separate tub and oversized shower!
It was really hard to beat our view the next morning, too!
Sadly, not our boat….. but if you bring one you could dock right by your room.
I did love being on the first floor, where we could just open the sliding door and walk right outside! All the rooms have balconies, overlooking either the pool or the lake!
We had a yummy breakfast at Restaurant 157 at the Hotel, then headed out to play tennis! The lighted tennis courts and miniature golf are open 24/7, so even an insomniac like me can play anytime!
As the sun climbed higher in the sky, we were ready to play in the pool!
The resort had constant activities all day, from duck races in the lazy river to movies by the beach at night, we were kept busy!
I love a fun lazy river, and we swam away the hours!
An adult-only hot tub and infinity pool overlooks the family pool, and the CoCo Cove Bar and Grill kept us hydrated with drinks and a light lunch!
Another plus of being on the ground floor is that we could avoid walking through the hotel wet by just walking around to our patio!
We spent most of our time in the big pool, which had a fun game in the water, where you knock down the cans with a frisbee! My youngest quickly made friends with other boys at the pool, and played for hours while I just sat back and relaxed! My husband and daughter joined us for a fun, family tournament after lunch!
If you aren’t familiar with the game, you’re missing out! It’s a fun frisbee game, which originated as a drinking game and doesn’t really have a name that I know of, where players take turns trying to knock down bottles or cans with a frisbee. This was the first time I’ve ever played in the water, and we loved it!

The slides were fun, too! A family hot tub sits right over here, too!
My 10-year-old declared himself too old to play at the splash area, something he would have done for hours just last summer. They grow up so quickly, and it’s why these types of getaways are so important, because once they’re gone….
The smallest resort guest have a fun place to play, too!
While my kids had fun playing sand volleyball, I promised we’d come back after the sun went down to play, but we never made it back! There was just too much to do!
The resort also has kayak and paddleboard rentals for the lake!
The resorts private lagoon was filled with fishing boats each morning and evening, and fishing is allowed from the shore. My kids were so upset we hadn’t brought any fishing gear.
My husband and I had a nice dinner at Lakeside Restaurant while my kids ordered a pizza from room service, hung out for smores by the lake and watched the outdoor movie at the pool. It’s one of the awesome perks of having a teenager!
After dinner, we picked up the kids and headed off the resort to Fajita Jacks on the lake for some fun drinks with friends, and to watch the boats out on the lake! We had some queso, too. And the shrimp fajitas. And the Corpus Shrimp Diablos. It’s such a fun place to hang out! Click HERE to visit their website.
Mom Fail! We told my son that we would play mini-golf when we returned, but it was well after 11pm, and I was beat! We made plans to play the next morning before our tee-time on the golf course! Yeah, that didn’t happen.
Sunday morning, I walked down to the lake and found this little hideaway to enjoy watching the lake come awake! I’ve never been a coffee drinker, but it’s time like this that I wish I was!
Soon the lake was busy!
My husband had a good grasp of my hand as we passed the Spa, that I swear was CALLING MY NAME!
My son also remembered my promise of mini-golf as we passed it. Sorry kid. You slept late, not me.
The Golf Center is really neat, and could be a vacation on it’s own. The driving range is beautiful.
We played nine holes early Sunday morning, which was all we had time to do before our 11am check out.
I did get a picture of the cute Golf Cottages, which are located near the course. You can bring your golf cart and leave just ride right on to the course! The Resort offers some great golf packages, too! My husband wants to come back with his friends for a golf weekend, and I told him we would wave to him from the Towers!
