Airfield Falls Trailhead and Conservation Park, Fort Worth

The most picturesque waterfall in DFW is Airfield Falls, located on Farmers Branch, right before it merges with the West Fork of the Trinity River!  With the recent completion of the new park and trailhead, it’s an easy and enjoyable walk, and the falls are a great excuse to get out and walk or take a bike ride this summer!

About 3 years ago we headed to Airfield Falls, and found the trailhead under construction and we weren’t able to access the trail from this location.  We had to drive down and walk back about a mile to the falls, and because it’s off the Trinity River, it was a little difficult to find!

We waited and waited, and are so happy with how the new trailhead and park look now!

There is a nice parking lot, and plenty of picnic tables for grabbing a snack before you head out on the trail!  There is also a water fountain for people, water bottles and dogs, and a mister so you can cool off!

The trail, part of the Trinity Trail, is paved and wide, perfect for a walk or bike ride, even with training wheels!  It’s maybe a quarter of a mile walk to the falls, or 10-15 minutes. There were lovely wildflowers all along the walk, too!

Welcome to Airfield Falls!

From the trailhead, you’ll come to the top of the falls first!  Since the water was low, we were able to walk around.  Like anywhere rocks and water meet, it can be slippery!

A low hanging tree gave me a nice spot for a picture of this cutie!

I love waterfalls, they are so peaceful.  If the water falling any more, I wouldn’t have been able to walk out and get these pictures!

Our little pup, Dublin, just loved the falls!  Leased dogs are welcome on the trails, just PLEASE pick up after them!

Another view of the falls!

Now I want to come back after a good rain to see it!

But this was just perfect for taking pictures!

There are also several pretty bridges along the trail!

Know Before You Go

Located right next to the Fort Worth Joint Air base, the gate is visible from the parking lot, which makes me think the parking lot is kinda safe.  No promises.

When the jets are taking off from the Air Base, it’s loud, but I love watching them!

Don’t forget to bring plenty of water, sunscreen, and bug spray!
