Tourist and locals alike seem to be lured to the Nasher Sculpture Center for both quiet contemplation in the garden, and the many, many activities offered here. From Summer Kids Camps to monthly programs, they have so many opportunities for introducing art to children!
Know Before You Go
The Nasher Cafe by Wolfgang Puck offers indoor and outdoor dining. Outside food and drink are not allowed.
Some of our most memorable art experiences have come from The Nasher’s temporary exhibits, including the recent Blue Red & Yellow by Ann Veronica Janssens, a huge colored room filled with artificial fog. Once inside the room, the sunlight filtered through the colored panels and was disbursed by the fog, leaving you immersed in color!
Another of our favorites was Martin Creed’s Balloon Room, in which guest walked inside a room filled to the top with yellow balloons! Such a great sensory experience!
First Saturdays
Admission to the Nasher Sculpture Center is FREE the First Saturday of each month, thanks to Target! The Nasher offers GREAT kids activities from 10am – 2pm, including hands-on art, artist demonstrations, family tours, yoga in the garden, storytime with Dallas Library and much, much more! I usually plan to visit the nearby Crow Collection of Asian Art, but often we stay SO busy at the Nasher that we never make it any further! The Perot Museum also offers science activities in Klyde Warren Park on First Saturdays, too!
