Museum of Ice Cream in Austin Texas

The Museum of Ice Cream, 11506 Century Oaks Terr., Austin Not really a museum, but you’ll get to eat your fill in ice cream! A really fun, happy immersive studio with great photo ops, interactive activities for everyone! You’ll fill like a kid again, hopefully not one with a brain freeze!

Austin Bouldering Project 979 Springdale Rd., Austin A gym completely dedicated to bouldering.

Austin Duck Tour 602 E. 4th St., Austin We love this loud and fun tour of Downtown Austin, with a splash in Ladybird Lake at the end!

Austin Zoo 10808 Rawhide Trail, Austin Not your ordinary zoo, most of these animals are rescues and each has a story. We absolutely love watching their daily enrichments, especially the wolves and mountain lions!

Barton Springs Pool 2131 William Barton Dr., Austin My favorite place in Austin, this beautiful spring-fed pool is an Austin must! Open year round, see website for more information on times. The annual Polar Plunge on New Years Day is a tradition!

Bob Bullock Museum 1800 Congress Ave., Austin Austin’s History Museum located in Downtown Austin, and walkable from the State Capital.

Cathedral of Junk 4422 Lareina Dr., Austin Only in Austin can someone accumulate a tower of junk and people will come to see it as a tourist attraction! Still, it’s quite a sight to see!

Circuit of the Americas Karting, 9201 Circuit of the Americas Blvd., Austin Experience the thrill of racing on a track in the shadow of the Circuit of the Americas Racetrack!

Congress Ave Bats 305 S. Congress Ave., Austin One of the best things to do in Austin, the nightly emergence of millions of free-tailed bats each evening during the Summer is something not to miss!

Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center 4801 LaCrosse Ave., Austin The former first lady gave Texas so much to be thankful for, and the Wildflower Center is a beautiful place to experience the flora of the state she loved!

Ladybird Lake Hike and Bike Trail Part of the 10 mile loop around Ladybird Lake, the trail includes a boardwalk and takes you under Congress Ave. bridge, past Zilker Park and many Austin attractions! It’s just one of the many wonderful hikes around Austin!

Hike Covert Park at Mount Bonnell 3800 Mount Bonnell Rd., Austin FREE One of the highest points in Austin, a short hike gives you an incredible view of the river below, surrounded by homes. General George Custer would bring his wife here for picnics when he was stationed in Texas, before Little Big Horn. It’s worth the hassle of finding a place to park, and the 102 steps to the top! Stop to see the peacocks at Mayfield Park on your way!

Mount Playmore, 13609 N.I-35 The largest playspace in Austin, your kids will love this fun destination!

Museum of the Weird 412 E. 6th St., Austin I really love this quirky oddities museum on Austin’s famed 6th Street.

Peacocks in Mayfield Park 3505 W. 35th St., Austin We love going to see the beautiful peacocks and peahens that roam free around the park! Late winter and early Spring are the best times to see the peacocks with their beautiful plumage displayed for the hens!

Texas State Capital 1100 Congress Ave., Austin A tour of the Texas State Capital begins at the Visitors Center, located in the 1856 General Land Office Bldg, the oldest state office building in Texas. The State Capital offers daily tours, although on a limited basis due to Covid-19.

The Thinkery Children’s Museum, 1830 Simond Ave., Austin A hands-on experience for kids to explore STEM and STEAM activities.

Umiauf Sculpture Garden 605 Robert E. Lee Rd., Austin A beautiful and unique sculpture garden which allows for a hands-on experience with the art, family programming and FREE admission on the 2nd Sunday of the month!

Westcave Preserve 24814 Hamilton Pool Rd., Round Mountain Take a guided hike to the grotto and 40-foot waterfall.

Zilker Botanical Gardens 2220 Barton Springs Rd., Austin Beautiful gardens, native plants, children’s areas and activities make this a must visit when in Austin!

The Oasis on Lake Travis, 6550 Comanche Trail, Austin Incredibly popular, it’s the best place in Austin to watch the sunset!

Franklin BBQ 900 E. 11th, Austin The line at this Austin BBQ restaurant says it all. They open at 11am until sold out, usually by 2pm. Closed on Mondays.

Gourdough’s Public House 2770 S. Lamar, Austin I love their unique food and great patio.

Juan In A Million 2300 E Cesar Chavez, Austin The best breakfast tacos, they are open for breakfast and lunch.

Matt’s El Rancho 2613 S. Lamar, Austin An Austin staple for Tex-Mex.

Austin Motel 1220 S. Congress, Austin There are tons of places to stay in Austin, but nothing catches the Austin vibe quite like the Austin Motel!
