Bentonville may be the Mountain Biking Capital of the World, a fact solidified by the traffic of bikes on trails, roads and sticking out the back of pick up trucks, but it will always be the home of Walmart first and foremost!

The retail giant’s home offices are huge, as is it’s presence around town, but in quaint Downtown Bentonville sits the original Walton 5 and Dime Store, now the Walmart Museum.

Free and open late, it’s always a neat place to visit, and they have a little replica Walmart snack bar with ice cream!

I’m old enough to remember seeing my first Walmart, somewhere in East Texas, and thinking Walgreens and K-Mart had a baby. So I can really relate to a lot of things in the museum.

Downtown Bentonville is just as cute as it can be, and the Walmart Museum sits on the square, just across from the county courthouse.

You’ll find several good restaurants, but I like the Flying Fish. It’s just like the one in Arlington, and just like it, it’s always good. While we were there, we met Chef Erin Rowe, who guides hungry folks on Ozark Culinary Tours! She does private tours and groups! Be sure and check them out!
