Shreveport Water Works Museum A neat and FREE (donations appreciated) museum about the steam-powered municiple water treatment plant. Great for anyone who enjoys engineering or history.
Shreveport Aquarium Sharks, alligators and much more await you at this unique aquarium.
Sci-Port Discovery Center A fun Children’s Museum and enough hands-on exhibits for adults to enjoy, too!
Spirit of the Red River Cruise Currently closed due to Covid, but a great tour of the river.
Mardi Gras 2022 Let the Good Times Roll from mid-January to Fat Tuesday on March 1st with a parade almost every weekend, tons of family fun, and great food! Be sure to stop by Lilah’s Bakery or Tubb’s Hardware (trust me) for a King Cake! Tubb’s also has tons of fun mask, beads and more!
Eat
Fertitta’s Delicatessen Unique sandwich shop for decades! The Muffy, a muffuletta with their signature olive mix. Stop by the Padre for their delicious meats, too! Best of all, it’s conveniently located off I-20 before you get to the river (from Texas) and makes a great stop on road trips, too, although they are only open for lunch.
Stay
Margaritaville, Bossier City Our casino and hotel of choice, it has a great view of the river, and access to the nearby Bass Pro Shop, restaurants and shops. We’re not big gamblers, but I did win about $300 here once, so they do get my loyalty. They also have some great concerts, so check to see who is coming soon.
Horseshoe Casino Still a nice casino and hotel, the DARE 21 and over swimming pool offer fun Summer nightlife. Like Margaritaville, they also have some fun concerts and shows.
Red River Chalet I haven’t stayed at this AirBNB yet, but it’s on my Bucket List for our next visit, because it looks cool, allows dogs and the price is right!
