Downtown Grapevine is full of Christmas Cheer, so much that it is the self-proclaimed Christmas Capital of Texas, and the city really does it’s best to earn that title! Each day from Thanksgiving through the New Year, the city is full of lights and music, and a perfect day trip or evening destination! Check out my tips, enjoy my pictures and make your own plans to visit, for a day or a weekend! As always, feel free to let me know if you have any questions!
Christmas on Main Street
Walk along Main St. as it is completely decorated for the holiday! Stroll the boutiques and stores, restaurants and enjoy the light tunnel, mistletoe booth, lit up gazebo with live entertainment and flashing lights synchronized to music!
There are so many fun photo ops all around town, day or night!
One of the best things about Downtown Grapevine is all the FREE parking! There is parking along the street, and in several parking lots!
Nash Farm Tractor Pulled Hayrides
Another fun and FREE thing to do is just on a FREE hayride, provided by Nash Farms! Head over behind the gazebo to the Grapevine Farmers Market for a fun ride around Downtown! Nash Farm also has special events at the farm that are fun for the entire family! Visit their website for more information, dates and times!
Of course, there is great shopping in Downtown Grapevine, too! Just walk along the Main Street and you’ll find something for almost everyone on your Christmas list!
The Palace Theatre
Built in 1940, and completely restored, the Palace Theater shows classic movies, and Christmas favorites! The holiday movies almost always sell out, so buy your tickets in advance!
Considered the biggest Light Parade in North Texas, the Grapevine Parade of Lights takes place on the 1st Thursday each December. The parade is FREE, and so much fun! It is really crowded, so arrive early, enjoy a little shopping and dining before the parade!
One of the amazing things to do in Downtown Grapevine each December is to help make your own Glass Ornament at Vetro Glass Studio! We had so much fun making ours, and they are really a beautiful keepsake! You can make a reservation, and they do have special walk-in times!
The most popular of activities in Downtown Grapevine has to be the fun North Pole Express Train Ride! Guest dressed in their pajamas board the vintage trains for a trip to the North Pole to meet Santa! Here’s a tip, tickets go on sale in July, and quickly sell out for this amazing experience!
Downtown Grapevine has some amazing restaurants, too! If you follow me on Instagram, you know we often visit Esparza’s Mexican Restaurant, set in a big, old house just off Main Street! Another dependable favorite is Big Fish Seafood Grill! For something fun, don’t miss the historic Tolbert’s Chili Parlor!
Be sure to check out Mason and Dixie, a cute restaurant Downtown with a fun staff and great sandwiches!
The Hotel Vin in Downtown, just across the railroad tracks, is the perfect place to take some terrific Christmas pictures, with several adorable little Christmas photo booths! Enjoy live music, drinks and a great assortment of places to eat at the hotel, too!
Off Main Street Events
A few other notable things not to miss in Grapevine:
The Gaylord Hotel

This fun, themed hotel with an indoor waterpark goes all out for the holidays!
