With a fun, African-theme, Kalahari Resort in Round Rock boast the largest indoor waterpark in the U.S., a great game room with zip-lines, climbing towers, escape rooms, bowling alley and much more, several on-site restaurants, an outdoor market and outdoor pools! We loved our stay and really can’t wait to go back!
Opened in November, 2020, the rooms, common areas, restaurants, and pools were clean and lovely, in spite of the weekend crowds! The staff was very helpful and check-in and unloading was easy-peasy.

Located in Round Rock, Texas, Kalahari Resort is perfectly situated in the middle of the state for easy access from DFW, Houston, Austin and San Antonio. The hotel, with it’s African-safari theme, is beautiful and feels like it caters to adults just as much as children!
We traveled with friends, and shared a room for 6, which did feel a little cramped, but we were rarely in our room, with so many fun things to do just waiting for us! They offer larger suites, and even have fun bunk bed suites!
Guest are allowed to arrive as early as 9am to visit the waterpark, and the hotel will text you to let you know when your room is ready. On the day of checkout, you wristband, which works as your ticket, is good through the close of the day, so you can just load your car and go back inside to play! Early and late VIP check in/out is also available, but for a considerable price.

I sent my husband pictures of the giant gameroom when we arrived, and he said it seemed like a child’s casino, which in some ways it is, minus a chance at taking home any money. We set a limit when we arrived, and purchased a card which he used for the games. Access to the games are included with your stay. The zip-lines, climbing towers, rides, and escape rooms, etc all have an additional fee.

The waterpark is huge, with lots of rides for young children and older kids and adults! They have changing rooms right as you enter, and locker rentals. Grab your towels and find a table or seats, there are plenty to choose from!
We skipped the locker and used one of my favorite waterpark necessities, a MasterLock 5900D personal safe from Amazon! As much as we go to waterparks and pools, it really has been a lifesaver for me! As an Amazon affiliate, I do receive a small commission if you purchase using my link. Thank You.
For dinner and lunch the next day we had the pizza, which satisfied all the kids. It was about $30 for a pepperoni, and had 16 small slices, which was great with the kids. You can also order it by the slice.

The waterpark has great slides, such as the Barreling Baboon, Cheetah Race, Kenya Korkscrew, Rippling Rhino… you get the picture! They also have a huge play structure for younger children! There’s also a lazy river, hot tub (and a great one for those 21+), wave pool and several areas for younger children, too!
Seriously cool was the private cabanas, some even have private hot tubs inside them! Unfortunately, no one invited us to join them while we were there!
Be sure and visit the swimsuit dryers in the changing rooms to keep from having dripping suits, but I’d suggest a portable clothes line to take with you, especially if you have several people. There just wasn’t enough space in the bathroom to hang all of our drippy suits. I just hang mine down off the shower, but I forgot this time to bring it.
After the pool closed, we enjoyed the open-air market and live music while the kids wound down for bed.

Just one of the neat, adult spaces at Kalahari! There are several restaurants, including a steak house, too. There is also a spa, that looks amazing, for those of you lucky enough to get away without the kids!

I seriously loved the outdoor pools, too! The fun swim up bar is 21+, but the kids were able to play in the pool and we could keep an eye on them and do both. As expected, their drinks are pricey, but the cup is refillable at any of the resort bars for $5 off, and you can take your drinks ANYWHERE on the property!

Parking is FREE, or you can use the valet.
We brought breakfast bars and muffins for breakfast, but our room did have a coffee maker and a refrigerator.
