7 Best Restaurants in Dallas’ Deep Ellum Neighborhood

While Deep Ellum is mostly known for their bars, nightclubs and artsy scene, it’s also a cosmic draw to the foodie crowd for good, unpretentious food and a casual atmosphere.  These are my pics of some of the best restaurants in Deep Ellum, that definitely give off the Deep Ellum vibe from the moment you walk in the place!

Maracas Cocina Mexicana, 2914 Main Street    Mexico City cuisine with a fusion of Tex-Mex favorites all handmade.  The taco salad is one of the best I’ve ever had!  The restaurant is in the old Monica’s Aca y Alla, which moved to Cedar Springs.  Try the Mexican lasanga, and they have a weekend brunch as well.

Monkey King Noodle Company, Deep Ellum

Monkey King Noodle Company, 2933 Main Street  We would drive to Carrollton just for their Spicy Garlic Peanut Noodles, but now they have relocated to Deep Ellum with a better location and hours!  There is a paid public parking lot next door.

Twisted Root Burger Company, 2615 Commerce St.   We stepped into one of the suburban Twisted Root location recently, and I laughed at how it was barely recognizable to the beloved original on Commerce, which stands head and shoulders above the chain locations now found as far south as Waco and as far East as Birmingham, AL.  Grab a burger, or choose one of their daily exotic meats, such as elk, bison, or ostrich, just to name a few.  My son, a root-beer connoisseur, says it’s actually a root beer restaurant which serves burgers, and they do make their own root beer, with unique flavors such as banana and vanilla.  They also have a great selection of pickles and custard shakes!  If it’s cool enough, check out the rooftop patio.

Pecan Lodge BBQ, 2702 Main St.     The biggest draw to Deep Ellum for families is Pecan Lodge!  We love their BBQ, which many say is one of the best in the state!  Like any good BBQ restaurant, they open about 11am, with a line already formed, and close when they run out!  Try the Beef Rib, it’s incredible!

Uncle Uber’s Sammich Shop, 2713 Commerce     This is your place for the best sandwich in Dallas! I love the Cuban.  It’s been a mainstay in Deep Ellum since 2011, a place where the newest doesn’t always mean the hottest of restaurants, but still gets the most attention.

Allgood Café, 2934 Main St.     Come for breakfast or brunch on the weekends and try some of their fluffy pancakes, chicken fried steak or borracho biscuit.

Serious Pizza, 2807 Elm St.   Amazing pizza in a fun location that opens daily for lunch.
