Texas Motor Speedway in North Fort Worth is known for it’s loud roar of engines as race cars fly around the track, race fans cheering with every lap! But during the holidays, it’s home to the Gift of Lights! Enjoy a relaxed drive in the comfort of your own car through thousands of Christmas lights, with some fun surprises along the way!
Check out my Mommy Tips for making the most of your visit to the Gift of Lights, as well as pictures of our visit, taken by my daughter (um, someone had to drive).
The Gift of Lights did invite us out and provide tickets but I was not financially compensated for this post and as always, all opinions are my own.

Once we arrived, the kids lasted about 5 minutes in the back of the truck! The wind was blowing and it was about 40 degrees, so we pulled over to let them jump back in the cab!

At the entrance, there are signs to remind you to turn off your headlights and turn your radio to a preselected station!

I love this display of the Fort Worth Police. The black panther represents Fort Worth’s nickname, Panther City, and has been on the FWPD badges since 1912. Originally meant as an insult to the city of Fort Worth, you can read more of how the town embraced the panther by clicking HERE.

The Light Tunnel is always a favorite with us!

Take your time and just enjoy the drive!
So much fun, dirty windshield and all!

We also loved that our little pup, Dublin, came with us! She loved the lights as much as we did!

We are on the approach to the concourse.

And as we entered, we are greeted by the Grinch!

Inside there are so many lights!

Dinosaurs, volcanes and so much more!

It’s so much fun, and I get a thrill out of just getting to drive through!

There are so many more lights outside! At just over 2 miles, the Gift of Lights has over 500 lighted displays!

Here, there is a definite water theme! we love the fish!

I loved the flowing fountains!
The pictures just don’t do it justice, with waves surround you and are just incredible!

This was our favorite part!

One more!

Another really cool thing we saw at Gift of Lights were jeeps covered in Christmas lights! I love this! I’ve already ordered some for my car!

There’s also a row of racecar lights leading to the Texas Motor Speedway Garage! The garage is the site of this year’s bigger and better Santa’s Village!

At Santa’s Village, you park your car and walk inside.

There were more colorful lights!

An ice skating rink!

Tons of fun photo ops! I loved that they allowed our Dublin to come inside Santa’s Village, too! My kids wanted to wear their pajamas since it would be so late when we got home.

A coloring station, concession stand, real restrooms, and vendors!

Since it’s a garage, there are also lots of cars!

There’s even a miniature train that takes you around Santa’s Village Lighted Forest!
Know Before You Go
Bundle up with blankets, because it’s just more fun!
Take a thermos of hot chocolate to drink as you drive through, or stop off at Buc-ees just across from the entrance to TMS! They have hot chocolate, snacks and restrooms!
Plan on spending anywhere from 30-45 minutes driving through the light displays. Remember to turn off your headlights, and take your time. It’s not a race weekend!
