The Best Kid-friendly Patio Restaurants in Austin

Patio restaurants are the best restaurants.  It doesn’t have to be huge, some of my favorites only fit a few tables, but everyone is more at ease when you’re sitting outside, especially the kids.  It’s where you can sit back and relax with a drink, watch the clouds or the water and actually enjoy someone’s company.  Here’s my favorite Patio Restaurants in Austin, which more or less is my favorite restaurants in Austin!

1. Gourdough’s Public House, 2700 S. Lamar. This relaxed patio offers games such as cornhole and connect four while you enjoy don’t cheeseburgers! Don’t miss the deep-fried deviled eggs!

2. Mozart’s Coffee Roasters, 3825 Lake Austin Blvd. Austin

I’m not a coffee drinker, but I love this coffee and pastry shop overlooking Lake Austin!  Of course, it is dog-friendly, which is great because it’s our go-to spot before taking Dublin to play at Red Bud Isle Park.  Click HERE for more information.

3. Banger’s Sausage House and Beer Garden, 79 & 81 Rainey St., Austin

One of the best Sunday brunch in Austin on a huge patio, it’s kid and dog friendly, just come early, prepare for a wait and don’t expect anyone to be in a hurry.  They have traditional sausages and some very unique ones, and exotic meats.  The duck and fig is my favorite!  Click HERE for more information

4. The Oasis on Lake Travis, 6550 Comanche Trail, Austin

The Oasis on Lake Travis is the place to be at sunset, to watch an incredible view as the sunsets behind the lake!  It’s also requires a LOT of forethought, and arriving early to snag one of those very desired tables, and they don’t seat incomplete parties.  Plan to arrive at least an hour early, and earlier on weekends and holidays.  While waiting you can wander around the gardens or keep cool in the arcade, a hit with my kids!  Bring your camera to enter the annual Sunset Photo contest, too!  Click HERE to read more!

5.  Hula Hut, 3825 Lake Austin Blvd, Austin

Located next to Mozart’s, the Hula Hut is another Austin favorite!  Sit on the big patio and watch the boats, or bring your own boat to dock while you eat!  All the food is handmade, with a funky Mexican-Polynesian fusion.  Click HERE to visit their website.

6. Ski Shores Café, 3103 Pearce Rd., Austin

A wonderful, laid back place to enjoy lunch or dinner, where no one cares if your kid yells a little too loudly when a huge turtle swims up to grab one of the fries they threw in the water!  Burgers and chicken are pretty much the staple of the menu, and the fried catfish is the best I’ve had this side of Big Cypress Bayou!  Click HERE to see their menu!

7. Fresa’s Chicken al Carbon, 1703 S. First, Austin

Like any good tourist, we found Fresa’s when taking friends to see the Greeting From Austin Mural, that is right across the street!  Fresa’s has amazing food, and a patio and play area for kids!  Did I mention that it’s across the street from the Greeting From Austin Mural….  Click HERE to visit their website.
