Magical Winter Lights is a holiday lantern festival in La Marque, South of Houston, and it’s just incredible! We went during their opening weekend, and absolutely loved it! Here’s some incredible tips for making your visit the best it can be!
We arrived as soon as they opened at 5pm, and stayed until the closed that evening! Even though the lights weren’t as incredible at dusk, it gave us a good chance to take some fun pictures that we wouldn’t have been able to after dark!
But the lights are so much better after dark!
It’s also not as crowded when the first open, even on a weekend.
They have Lights from around the world! I love this one of my daughter in front of Paris!
The London Bridges are all lit up!
Regardless of when you arrive, it’s a good idea to eat before you come so you’re not hungry. They have plenty of concession type food, so you can still get a good junk-food fix!
I love these Russian Nesting Dolls, with cuts out for your head. This is an example of something that just wouldn’t have been as good after dark when you couldn’t see their faces! My son still has a little ways to grow!
Just a slightly different angle as the sun was setting and this picture was almost too dark.
We traveled to Egypt to see the pyramids….
And to Mexico!
The Sydney Opera House was amazing, and the last stop on our World Tour!
Of course, there’s a section for Texas as well!
Texans or Cowboys?
NASA and Space Center Houston are represented, too! It’s just 18 miles away, if you’re looking for something to do before Magical Lights opens.
Magical Lights is located in LaMarque, so they show their love, too!
Big Tex and the State Fair of Texas!
The next exhibit is HUGE!!! It’s Dinosaurs!
It’s so big that some of it is inside a giant tent!
Inside the tent, there are many dinosaurs that aren’t lanterns, too.
Some dinosaurs you can even ride!
You can pretend to be a baby dinosaur.
Search for dinosaurs bones in the fossil dig.
And test your strength against a dinosaur in an arm wrestling challenge.
My kids loved this!
Outside, the dinosaur lanterns are enormous!
Next we traveled under the sea!
These giant jellyfish were incredible!
Walking under all the lights!
Magical Winter Lights is just so big! You can easily see how we stayed all evening!
There is also a Candy Land area!
A mural of the Great Wall of China in lights!
And so many cute faces!
We walked into the Enchanted Forest.
Which is filled with magical trees!
And there is even a beautiful carriage!
A huge area is devoted to China, near the back by the Chinese Acrobats! My daughter put our names on the hearts in the tree!
The lanterns here are some intricate!
The photo ops are incredible!
A Chinese Dragon
and such incredible flowers
And butterflies!
We didn’t spend a lot of time in the Midway, because there was just so much to see and do in the Lanterns! But there were rides and games, all at an additional charge!
Arrive early to get a good seat for the Chinese Acrobats, it was an incredible show! The show is included in your ticket price.
My picture isn’t great, but we really enjoyed it!
Afterwards, there was still so much to see and do, like these tiles that light up when you walk on them!
Merry Christmas!
