American Gardens – West 7th, Fort Worth

We’ve been crazy about Fort Worth’s trendy West 7th area for a while, with Steel City Pops, Movie Tavern and plenty of fun shops for browsing, and the welcome addition of the new American Gardens is just another reason to love it!  The bar and restaurant host a big yard, 10,000 square feet, with plenty of tables tucked under trees and lit up at night with strings of lights!  A great date night destination after dark, it’s a fun play place for kiddos during the day after a visit to the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History or the Fort Worth Zoo!

We visited a week after their opening in late March, and even on a busy Sunday afternoon we didn’t have a wait, not that my kids noticed!  They took off immediately to play at the various games, such as ping pong, foosball, and air hockey, which were all FREE.  They also had several corn hole games and a huge Connect 4!  Our waitress was great, and tracked the kids down to where they were playing for their drink orders!

The concise menu consist of things you might find at backyard party, such as burgers, chicken skewers and ribs!  The cheeseburger I ordered was really good, although the prices were a little high, everything over $10.  My 9-year-old, who gobbled his down between air hockey games, really liked it, too.  It was a bit disappointing that they didn’t have a kid’s menu, but I was told that it is in the works!

We took our new pup, Dublin, with us, who was quickly wore out from so many people wanting to meet her!  Our waitress brought her a bowl of water right after bringing our drinks.

The highlight was The Yard, with a lawn bowling lane!

After lunch, we headed to Steel City Pops, which is located just diagonal from American Gardens!  We love all their funky flavors, and it’s fun to watch as they are made!
