Whistle Stop Christmas, Cleburne

While drive-through Christmas light displays seem to be so popular right now, there is something magical about getting out of the car and walking through a lighted display, and Whistle Stop Christmas in Cleburne’s Hulen Park shines brightly!

Know Before You Go

If you come before dark, bring some sliced grapes to feed the geese in Buffalo Creek.

Open 7 days a week, but activities are only available on Friday and Saturday evenings.

Whistle Stop Christmas lights are FREE to the public, but some activities such as trackless train rides and horse drawn wagon rides charge a fee.

During Whistle Stop Christmas, Cleburne’s Steam Engine 3417 is decorated in lights, and on select nights, children can sound the train’s whistle!

A permanent display in Hulen Park, the engine was built in 1919, and payes tribute to Cleburne’s railroad heritage on the Santa Fe railroad.  Amtrak still has a stop in Cleburne on their Texas Eagle line, which travels as far East as Marshal and West as El Paso.  Click HERE to visit the Amtrak website for more information.

On Friday and Saturday nights in December, a children’s train ride runs through Hulen Park from 6:00 to 9:00pm.

You can also see the lights on a Horse Drawn Wagon Ride on Friday and Saturday nights in December from 6:00 to 9:00pm.

As a final stop, my kids love playing in the playground!
