Natural Bridge Caverns, San Antonio

Natural Bridge Caverns IS an amazing network of caverns in the Texas Hill Country just north of San Antonio, but it’s SO much more than that!  They have also built an adventure park, zip lines and much more, there is something here for the entire family!

2.   Learn

I love that while it may feel like we are at an amusement park, my kids are actually learning about the geology and history of the area!

3.   The Caverns

The caverns, which were discovered in 1960, take you into an amazing world under our feet!  You will actually walk down into the cavern, and there once inside there are some steep steps, so be sure and wear appropriate shoes!

There are several different cavern tours available.  The most popular is the Discovery Tour, which last approximately 75 minutes and is about 3/4 of a mile in length, but you are walking downhill 180 ft., and then back up!

We’ve done the Discovery Tour numerous times, and each time I see something for the first time!

Tours usually consist of about 20-30 people, and I always like to be at the head of the group.

Remember it’s not necessary to rush through the tour, and take your time to take pictures.  The formations look completely different with a flash and without, and it’s a fun place to play with your camera settings.

The caverns have 99% humidity, and quickly fog up cameras, phones and glasses.  It helps to bring something to wipe them off.
