San Pedro Springs Park, San Antonio

San Pedro Springs Park is the oldest park in Texas, and the second oldest one in the country!  The natural springs have attracted people to the area for over 12,000 years.  Once home to a science museum and a zoo, the natural springs still attracts people today!

Know Before You Go

While the park is very busy with tourist, locals and families having fun, we also saw a few vagrants under the trees.  No problems, just wanted you to be aware.

Swimming Pool

The main attraction to this incredible park is the huge,  spring-fed swimming pool!  When we visited it wasn’t open yet for the season, but San Antonio Parks and Recreation allowed me to use this picture.  The pool is free to the public, and there is a bath house, too.

The huge pool is also FREE, making it a must to visit during the summer!

Springs

This incredible concrete structure was built with concrete, with a pipe running up to the top to pump up the water.  Minerals in the spring water clung to the sides and created this very real look!

The Gazebo overlooks the botanical gardens, and can be rented for special events!
