Eco-Fest in Arlington

The first day of Fall welcomed cooler temperatures and the kick-off weekend of a season full of festivals!  We celebrated the season opener at Eco-Fest in Arlington, one of our annual favorites!

Arlington Eco-fest

The day long festival, which emphasizes environmental awareness, offered free classes to the public in drought tolerant gardening and composting, and a “How to Build a Rain Barrel” class ($10/fee).  They also had tons of FREE, family friendly entertainment!

The streets around Founders Plaza were closed down, and lined with vendor booths.

We spent most of our time in the Children’s Area, where everything was FREE!  They had bounce houses….

and more bounce houses…..

Blackland Prairie Raptor Center also had a booth at the festival.  They brought with them some beautiful birds!  Click HERE to visit their calendar of upcoming events.

We enjoyed seeing this little Eastern Screech Owl, and appreciate all that Blackland Prairie does to educate the public about conservation of our native birds of prey.

Over the summer, my kids found one in our front yard, sitting in the grass and looking very dazed.  We were attempting to get it to a wildlife rehabilitator when it passed away, a victim of eating a mouse that had been poisoned.

Maggie the Magical Clown had a face painting booth in the Children’s Area, and they brought their Funny Farm!  My boys loved the pot belly pigs!

In addition to free trees, we also came home with some plants!  My boys picked out some herbs, cilantro and tarragon.

Go T Strong offered a free bicycle safety course, with plenty of bikes and helmets for riders!  Visit their website for information on their Cyclo-camping trips, where participants ride bikes into their campsites!  Doesn’t that sound like fun?

Levitt Pavilion had great music all day!  We took a break for lunch, and I spread out of blanket and listened, while the kids ran around playing zombie tag!  It’s such a great venue for outdoor concerts!  Click HERE to visit their calendar of upcoming FREE concerts!

After all their running, it was time to cool off in the Levitt Pavilion’s fountains!

We just loved Eco-fest, and all the fun activities the City of Arlington offers each year!  Click HERE to visit their calendar of upcoming events!

Keep Having Fun in the Texas Sun!

As a Naturally Fun Blogger, I was invited to Eco-fest by the City of Arlington, however, I wasn’t financially compensated for this post, and all opinions are my own!
